Getting Started

Since this is my first post on this blog, I thought it would be best to share how I ended up on this journey to Mango, Togo. I'll try to keep it short and if you want to know more, just ask!

I am currently in my seventh year teaching for the Boise School District in Boise, Idaho. I love my job, my students and my school. I fill the rest of my time being with family and friends, and serving in my church, Whitney Baptist. I have attended Whitney Baptist my entire life and came to know the Lord as my Savior at a young age. Through the years, I have grown in my faith through studying God’s Word, spending time with Godly people, and God’s constant grace. In the past, I struggled with God’s timing and plan, but He recently brought me to a place of contentment. Just as I discovered this contentment, God brought the Molsee family into my life. Ethan and Dr. Melissa Molsee stayed with me one weekend two years ago. I learned of their desire to work at the Hospital of Hope in Mango, Togo. They have three young boys and shared their need of having a teacher on the field with them. After spending time in prayer and seeking Godly counsel for over a year, I decided to apply with ABWE (Association of Baptists for World Evangelism) and attend a training this past June. Since then, I have learned of other families also in need of a teacher for their children while they work and serve in Mango.

So, what will I be doing? By teaching the missionary children in Mango, Togo, I will be allowing the parents to work to full time in their various ministries as doctors, nurses, pilots, radio operators and church planters; and provide their children with quality education. Lord willing, I will be leaving for Mango in September 2014 and will stay for two years. While there, I will be seeking God’s will if this is something I will continue beyond two years.

Okay, you caught me. If my quick summary seemed like a letter, it was! I just pasted it onto here.  I know it's lame, but it gets the idea across. So what am I doing now? I am working on raising support.  I am looking for monthly financial supporters. If you look to the left, I have a cool fundraising thermometer that tracks my progress. I am currently at 10%!  I am also looking for prayer partners. Oh, how I need prayer. I think of Togo every day and all the details that need to happen before I go. It is so easy to get caught up in the details!

I love to share about this journey and if you would like to know more, please contact me!
